Shakyamuni Buddha
To understant the significance of Buddhist philosophy first to know about Shakyamuni Buddha. Shakyamu Buddha who is the founder of philosophy from where we can also get the way of Niravana. According to one traditional interpretation, Shakyamuni achieved buddhahood eons in the past, long before his descent to this earthly plane 2600 years ago as the historical Buddha. The abbreviated account of his life story where read about his enlightenment path.
Siddhartha Gautama when transformed himself into shakyamuni Buddha, the fully Awakened Sage of the Shakya Clan. For the next seven weeks he remained in the vicinity of the Bodhi Tree, enjoying the unlimited, blissful consciousness only a fully enlightened being experiences. During this time he refrained from teaching others, expressiong the doubt that few if any would have the strength and determination required to travel the path to enlightenment as he had done. Eventually, however, in response to a request made by the worldly gods Indra and Brahma on behalf of all suffering beings, he gave full rein to the compassionate intention that had motivated him from the beginning and began to reveal what he had experienced to others.
Realizing that the five ascetics who had shared the six years of austerities with him were the most qualified to benefit from what he could teach, he traveled to the Deer Park in Sarnath where he delivered his first discourse, of dharma, the spiritual truths he had discovered. In it he set forth the four noble truths of suffering, the origin of suffering, its cessation, and the path leading to this cessation. These four were to occupy a central place in all his subsequent teachings.
While it was Shakyamuni’s purpose to reveal the path leading to full enlightenment, the decision whether or not to follow this path has always been left to the individual. Furthermore, Buddha emphasized that spiritual development is not a matter of passively accepting what he said as true; rather, it entails an active investigation of the dharma teachings to see if they are valid, applicable to one’s own situation and helpful to one’s growth. If upon examination the teachings are indeed seen to be reliable and beneficial, then one can confidently enter the path and begin one’s spiritual training in earnest. The gateway into the buddhist path is the formal decision to entrust oneself to the Three jewls of Refute. These are the Buddha, the fully enlightened teacher; the Dharma, the spiritual community intent on putting these teachings into practice.
