Inspiration Story about Jetsun Milarepa
Jetsun Milarepa Thangka (1052–1135) know as Marpa’s principal heart-con and dharma heir. He apprenticeship to Marpa is often held up as the epitome of the guru-disciple relationship and Known as a yogi, poet, and saint, His life is celebrated for its remarkable transformation, embodying the path of redemption, dedication, and enlightenment. Milarepa is widely regarded as one of Tibet’s greatest spiritual teachers and a key lineage holder of the Kagyu tradition.

Milarepa was born into a wealthy family in the Tibetan region of Gungthang. Milarepa’s father had been a prosperous land-owner. After he died, Milarepa’s mother, sister and himself had their inheritance stolen by wicked uncle and aunt and were thereby reduced to bitter poverty. Because of his life was marked by tragedy and suffering. Seeking revenge, He learned black magic and caused great destruction, killing many people.
Using these powers Milarepa brought about the destruction of hi mother’s enemies, killing many people and animals in the process. Then, overcome by the horror of what he had done, and fearful of the fate that lay in store for him as murderer, he desperately sought the refuge of a dharma master who cold save him from the results of his misdeeds. This marked the beginning of his spiritual journey.
He found his teacher, Marpa Lotsawa, a translator and a great Buddhist master. Marpa subjected Milarepa to rigorous trials, including years of seemingly futile labor, to purify his past karma and test his commitment. Eventually, Marpa imparted profound teachings and initiations, setting Milarepa on the path to Enlightenment. He got inspiration about Enlightenment through Marpa to practice with compassion and got Liberation.

Marpa treated this would-be disciple very roughly. He mockingly called hi “Sorcerer”- a name which stuck with him for a long time. And Marpa always refused to give him any dharma instruction, if he dared enter the room in which an empowerment or teaching were to take place, Marpa would descend from his throne in a rage, trash him soundly and throw him out. And then Marpa give Mailarepa back-breaking tasks to perform, which was the single-handed construction of a rock tower. Which Milarepa was forced to tear down and rebuild three time.
To his intense hardships Milarepa persevered in serving Marpa devotedly. After years of his treating finally Marpa discerned that his methods had produced their desired effect.
Milarepa Spiritual Practice and Achievements
Milarepa dedicated himself to intense meditation in solitude, living in remote caves and enduring harsh conditions, where he spent the remainder of his life wandering from place to place, revealing the dharma through spontaneous songs that touched the hearts of simple and learned alike. This songs still sung by the Tibetan people, who whatever their affiliation. So Milarepa is the person who untiring effort and intense guru-devotion, and accomplished the supreme task of complete self-transformation, achieving the full enlightenment of Buddhahood within a few short years

Milarepa transmitted certain special teachings that Tilopa commanded be kept extremely hidden, to be passed from guru to only one disciple for thirteen successive generations. Yet one of the most powerful teachings that he ever gave to Gampopa was completely non-verbal. He had sent Gampopa away to do retreat when suddenly he called his disciple back to him, explaining that he had one further set of instructions to pass on. Milarepa profound spiritual teachings in a simple, heartfelt style, making them accessible to a broad audience. Through these verses, Milarepa expressed his insights, shared his experiences, and inspired others on the spiritual path to get Liberation.
